I’ve just finished creating the Lighting Design for Keith Warner’s landmark production of The Marriage of Figaro with stunning Set Designs by Boris Kudlicka and absolutely beautiful Costume Designs by Nicky Shaw, for the National Opera of Poland in Warsaw.
At present I am working up the model for my Set Design for The Cunning Little Vixen for the Birmingham Conservatoire and will shortly begin drawing the plan for my Lighting Design. This is the first time for a number of years that I have been engaged to design the Lighting and Scenery for an opera and I’m thoroughly enjoying the challenges. The Cunning Little Vixen opens at the Crescent Theatre, Birmingham on Thursday 10th March 2011.
I also have several photographic assignments to plan, prepare and complete over the next few months including shooting the photos for our neighbour’s 1 year old triplets!
I have recently put together a small (A5 size) booklet version of my portfolio which looks really fab!
If you would like a copy of it please email me: jb@johnbishop.me.uk and I will be happy to send one to you.
TO SUMMARISE:
I’ve recently completed the Lighting Design for Keith Warner’s The Marriage of Figaro for the National Opera of Poland, Warsaw.
I am now designing the Set and Lighting for The Cunning Little Vixen for the Birmingham Conservatoire.
Amongst several other productions, I’m booked to design the lighting for five operas at next year’s Buxton Festival in July 2011.
I’m starting to draw up the initial designs and lighting plans for those shows and the other seven or eight productions that I expect to be designing this year.
So, all in all, I think I have a busy year ahead! Since I just love to light, I’m always interested in any reasonable offers – however busy I am.
